For those of you new to the camp, we hope it is informative. For those returning, it is a sample of the DVD you can order when you register for the 2011 camp. The DVD will be much longer, and include moments with everyone who attended (and whose parents gave us photo permission). 25th June 2010 - Applications OpenYou can now apply for the 21st Residential Summer String Camp! Start by downloading the Information Sheets and Application Form. We've never really been happy with relying on grade levels for orchestra placement, so this year you can choose your orchestra on the form. The new requirements page may help. 11th June 2010 - Staff UpdateThe staff page now has some 2011 tutors confirmed. This is not the complete list; more will appear closer to the camp. If you left something nice at the camp and want it back, see above to retrieve it. The 21st Residential Summer String Camp will run in 2011, from January 24th to 29th. Details and application forms will appear here in August 2010. Know now that the low fee date will be earlier this year. 7th December 2009 - No Auditions, limited space and timetableDespite previous statements on the information sheets, there will be no auditions at the 2010 camp. We simply have too many applicants to audition. We apologise if you were so enthusiastic that you already prepared your audition piece, although your practice will still aid you at the camp. Also consider learning the fiddling elective pieces. We also have a very large number of applicants for 2010, and can only accept a few more. To find out if we still have room for you, ask Virginia. The timetable has also changed slightly. 24th November 2009 - Celtic Fiddling piecesColin MacCleod has selected pieces for his Celtic Fiddling elective. The 2010 camp will not receive this, so the final Fees are higher than in previous years. The Launceston Youth and Community Orchestra runs it - just like the String Camp - while Willem van der Vis conducts 'interesting' pieces - also like the String Camp. For more chamber music, there's the AUSTA Adult Chamber Music Day, run by the Tasmanian Chapter of the Australian Strings Association. In 2009, it will be in Launceston, on Saturday, June 20th. Both organisers tutored viola at previous String Camps. 11th March 2009 - Survey Results and late additionsWe have statistics from the 2009 String Camp Survey. Apparently this Website is the least convincing form of String Camp promotion. Also, in late February people sent in more photographs, especially from the Chamber Concert.
