News28th November 2011 - 4 Spaces Remaining and Tutor UpdateAs the heading says, we're just short of full. If you've been waiting for the final tutor list, you'll find it on the Staff page. 12th November 2011 - Application Limits UpdateThere are now just 10 spaces remaining for the 22nd Residential Summer String Camp. There is still room for you, but possibly not for long. 26th September 2011 - Application Limits and Bus BookingThe 22nd Residential Summer String Camp now has 120 applicants. It may well reach its limit of 150 within weeks. Before submitting your application, please ask Virginia de Groot if places are still available. For those who have applied and intend to take the bus, bookings for January are now open. See the Getting There page for details. 17th August 2011 - Outage and CorrectionFor about nine hours today most links on this site resulted in a blank browser window. This was an error in our server settings. We have now corrected it. 1st July 2011 - DVDs and VideoThe RSSC 2011 DVD packs have been duplicated in Melbourne and are in the mail back to us. Once they reach us, we'll post them out to those who ordered them. We never intended to take this long, but the wait will soon be over. The RSSC home page now has video from the 2011 camp as well. 3rd June 2011 - Applications OpenYou can now apply for the 22nd Residential Summer String Camp! Start on the Application Forms page. Please also read the Information Sheets. Some of you missed these in 2011, so we've included a link at left. Changes you'll find include:
11th May 2011 - Tutor WatchString Camp tutors Yuen Yum San and Jeremy Williams are running monthly orchestral workshops with the Cradle Coast Orchestra. The next workshop is this Saturday, May 14th. For prices, times and maps, see the Cradle Coast Orchestra Website. This particular workshop will also involve the Jan Sedivka Camerata, from the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music. The workshop will be followed by a concert featuring both the Camerata and viola tutor Jo St. Leon. Jo St. Leon and bass tutor Stuart Thomson play together as the Elanée Ensemble, as they demonstrated one memorable evening at the 2011 camp. On Sunday, May 15th, they be performing at Lilydale. Willem van der Vis has also been busy, conducting the Derwent Symphony Orchestra to glowing reviews in April. 9th March 2011 - LYCO Autumn WorkshopThe Launceston Youth and Community Orchestra has a workshop from 25th to 26th March. Like recent Winter Workshops, it will have both a symphony orchestra (with visiting conductor Kevin Cameron) If you're comfortable playing Lemonthyme or Freycinet Orchestra music (third position minimum), you're also capable of playing in the symphony orchestra workshop. Comparable brass and woodwind musicians are naturally also welcome. Update: with only three people confirmed attending, the string orchestra workshop has been cancelled. The symphony orchestra workshop will run as usual. We also have the first photos online. 30th January 2011 - Camp overThe 21st Residential Summer String Camp ran as smoothly as it ever does, despite its unprecedented size. The first pictures and music from the camp will appear within a few days. 24th January 2011 - The Camp BeginsWe'll all be at the camp and not responding to e-mail until the 29th.
